Unless you have gotten your dog tested for allergies or had your veterinarian recommend avoiding chicken, there is no reason to remove or avoid chicken from your dog’s diet. While it is true chicken can be an allergen, it is the most common protein fed to dogs, it is one of the more cost-effective proteins, and is a great source of food or treats for your pet. However, if your dog has sensitivities to chicken, we have plenty of food or treat options for your baby, just stop in and ask!

Everything in our store has been researched and chosen because of the quality & ingredients. Some of the food is more expensive than others, but all have surpassed the quality minimum required. Based on your budget, your dog’s size & lifestyle we can help you find the best match of food and flavor for your pup!

As a nutritionist, I take great care in providing for my babies. Louie and Athena eat better than I do, I promise. I feed them Truvida Choice kibble, mixing up on all the flavors. Our current household favorite is the Rabbit + Oceanfish mixed. On top of this, I sprinkle the Truvida Mobility & Joint supplement as well as the Natural Dog fish oil for a healthier skin & coat. In the mornings they also receive the Stella & Chewy’s meal mixers (Salmon & Cod recipe) and in the evenings freeze dried dinner patties (currently the Surf & Turf flavor) for Louie and the frozen raw rabbit patties for Athena. Louie is not a fan of the frozen raw, I think it is the texture for him! I try to continue to add fun and new flavors of each item, but I love being able to provide a solid base of kibble and add fun toppers.

The best chews we sell (and that each and every staff member buys for their dog) will be the cheek rolls, bully sticks, and yak chews. These three classes of chews are long lasting, completely digestible, and made from animal products that we do not utilize! All of those chews will last a different amount of time depending on your dog’s chewing intensity, but at least a few hours to a few days is a good range. Longer lasting bones include our frozen raw Primal bones and our air dried Shankzillas. Both of those options are for dogs that like to chew for a long time on a bone and the frozen raw ones are a little messy so need to be consumed outside, in the crate, or on a floor that is not carpeted.

In my house we own every single kind of Benebone. While not consumable, Benebones last an extremely long time. With two heavy chewers it is hard to say anything lasts longer than a few weeks in our house, but we have owned several Benebones for years and we get daily chews on them. Our current favorite is the Giant Fish Benebone as well as the Large Tripe Benebone. They work really well to keep their teeth clean, and their energy fixated for long periods. The other incredible life saver is the West Paw Toppl. These can be filled with multiple kinds of food, treats, and broths and frozen to keep your pup busy for 30 mins-hours at a time. Connect two together for even longer fun! Our current Toppl fillers include Open Farm Beef Bone Broth, West Paw Creamy Nut Butters, Fromm Pates, Rawz Aujou Dog Recipe wet food, and Stella & Chewy’s freeze dried Dinner Patties/Meal Mixers.

Absolutely! Emily, the owner, earned her Ph.D. at Texas Tech University from the Department of Veterinary Sciences in Nutritional Immunology. She has taught the staff basics of nutrition and common questions they will be asked, so they should be able to help with more basic requests. Anything specific can be emailed to Emily at emily@urbanpetmarket.com or sent to her via a staff member. Keep in mind she is not a veterinarian but has so much knowledge to offer in tandem with a professional’s recommendation!

I got Louie from Rocking Paw Goldens! Jolynn is local and a pillar of our community. She raises incredible goldens and also offers training classes, sport classes, and boarding. You can find her website here. She is also on Facebook. Louie has completed multiple training courses with her and has actually received his Canine Good Citizen! Yay Lou!

We carry both dry and wet cat food, treats, collars, toys, and accessories! We also have a selection of cat litter as well as raw toppers from Primal and Stella & Chewy’s.
